Short bio:

Masha Beketova (MA Gender Studies (HU Berlin), Systemic Counsellor (INSA)) is a Ukrainian-German researcher in gender and cultural studies. Masha’s dissertation on queer “post-Soviet” diaspora was funded by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and is in its final stage. Masha’s further research interests include queer, feminist, and diasporic literatures and activisms, gendered migration, intersectionality and narrative approaches.

Masha’s evolving postdoctoral project ‘Paralleli’ discovers, analyses and archives literary and cultural texts written by migrant authors of Ukrainian origin worldwide that explore non-normative sexualities, relationships, family constellations and genders beyond the binary gender system. The project’s goal is to uncover the diversity of non-canonized, lost, underground, semi-activist and internet-published queer Ukrainian texts.
