Dmitry Ermalovich-Dashchynski graduated from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus with a master’s degree and postgraduate studies. He worked as a research fellow in the Theatre Arts Department of the Centre for Research on Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature and taught European theatre history at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts (2018–2020). Dmitry was a reviewer for the Belarusian magazine “Мастацтва” (“Art”) (2015–2020). Since December 2020, he has been living, working and continuing his education in exile in Poland, Ukraine and Moldova. Scientist completed internships at the University of Warsaw (2021) and the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute (2021, 2023). He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in theatre studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
Since 2019, Dmitry has been researching the phenomenon of queer theatre in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova in the late 20th and early 21th centuries, as well as the representation of LGBTQI+ persons and queer aesthetics in late-communist and post-communist cultures in Eastern Europe. Since 2024, he has been the head of the Belarusian Department of the QueerStoria Archive of the Lambda Warszawa Association at the QueerMuzeum in Warsaw.
