Regensburg-born with family roots coming from Romania, Marie finds Southeastern Europe ideal for her academic interests. She is particularly interested in the politics of minorities, political extremism and governing systems of Western and Eastern Europe. She finds that these themes are severely understudied and hopes to shine some more light on them. This is exactly what drew her to the research group project “Light On! Queer Literatures and Cultures under Socialism.”
